ASCA observations of Hidden AGN in Spiral Galaxies

Abstract

We observed two spiral galaxies NGC4594 (M104) and NGC3628 with ASCA to search for hidden low luminosity active galactic nuclei (LLAGN). ASCA X-ray images of them indicate the existence of point-like source and soft diffuse emission. A point like source in NGC4594 emits 8x1040erg/s in 2-10keV band and likely to be LLAGN. Though NGC3628 also emits luminosity exceeds 4x1040 erg/s, the ratio of X-ray luminosity to infrared luminosity is consistent with starburst galaxy.
